Aruna, North Bay Executive Director at Proficio Speech Therapy Group, Inc. has worked in the field of speech-language pathology for over 15 years. She has held school-based positions, providing speech language therapy to children of various ages. She has significant experience in, and passion for, servicing the speech therapy needs of children 0-3 years of age through the Early Intervention program, and has also provided speech therapy for adults with speech disorders. In addition to providing direct speech therapy services, Aruna serves as an SLP supervisor to provide training and mentorship to others, and is also a Barton certified Dyslexia tutor.
Christine Woods, South Bay Executive Director at Proficio Speech Therapy Group, Inc. has worked in the field of speech-language pathology for over 15 years. Christine is passionate about early intervention and supporting families with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. She is experienced in assessing and treating individuals with a range of disabilities, including individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, childhood apraxia of speech, autism spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, vision impairments, global delays, and medically fragile. She is skilled in alternative forms of communication, including American Sign Language, static picture communication systems, and dynamic voice-output devices. Christine is devoted to supporting the families of children with special needs through family-centered therapeutic interventions.
Christina is a speech-language pathologist who began working with Proficio Speech Therapy Group in March 2019. She has worked in the field for over 11 years. Christina received her graduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She has experience in a variety of settings including: schools, early intervention, outpatient rehabilitation, private practice, skilled nursing facilities, home health, etc. Christina also has over 6 years of experience as a clinical supervisor. She is a licensed and board certified speech-language pathologist in the state of California. Christina is also an active member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She is passionate about her work. Christina loves making therapy fun and exciting for the children and families she serves.
Mai-Lan is a speech language pathologist who recently joined the Proficio Team. She is a Bay Area native and her passion for speech and language therapy began while working with children with autism. She graduated from NYU Steinhardt with a Masters of Science in Communicative Sciences and Disorders. She has over three years experience working with university students with autism and exposure as an ABA interventionist. She is excited to create fun and inspiring environments for Proficio clients.
Aleena has been working in the field of speech language pathology for four years. Although she has predominantly worked in pediatric clinics, she has also served as a clinical supervisor for bachelor students at an institute. Aleena enjoys her profession because it is challenging and gives her an opportunity to blend science and creativity. She loves working with children, especially pre-schoolers, and her areas of interest are childhood apraxia of speech, phonological disorders, specific language impairment, autism spectrum disorders, literacy disorders, and feeding difficulties. She believes in closely working with the parents and enjoys empowering and training the parent for optimal results. Aleena is always eager to learn more, be it from her colleagues or the clients or parents that she services. She is looking forward to an enriching experience with the Proficio team.
Clara Calderon is a bilingual speech-language pathology assistant. She has been working at Proficio’s San Jose clinic for over a year. Clara has seven years of experience working with children of all ages and ethnic backgrounds. Clara’s interest in speech and language grew when close family members were diagnosed with ASD, disfluency and speech delays. She enjoys working closely with children and their families as well as helping them achieve their speech and language goals.
Virginia is a devoted individual, mother, wife, and service provider who chose the speech therapy field out of passion. Her style within the clinic setting has allowed her to utilize her specialties; to mix and match the variety of evidence based practices that best fits each client we serve.
Tatiana has recently relocated to Fairfield and joined the Proficio Team. She received her Bachelor's from CSU Chico along with a minor in special education. After graduating in May 2019, she completed the certification program at Loma Linda University to then apply for her SLPA Licenses. Tatiana has experience working with all ages and backgrounds from infants to high schoolers. She gained this experience from volunteering in classrooms, becoming a camp counselor for Girl Scouts one summer, and being employed as a preschool teacher prior to completing requirements for SLPA. She loves finding that motivation for each client, then seeing that light bulb moment when everything starts to click. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, camping, reading a book, or listening to crime junkie podcasts.
Mariyah Velarde-Greene SLPA
Mariyah has been working for Proficio for a little over one year. She had a family member mention speech therapy and her interest was sparked after a relative needed to receive speech services. After that, the rest was history and she has found love in what she does.
Andrea was born and raised in Stockton, CA, and is excited to relocate and join the Proficio Team. She attended CSU Sacramento for 2 years and received her Bachelor’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She was an active member of NSSLHA up until graduating in May 2019. In Spring of 2020, she obtained her SLPA license from San Joaquin Delta College. Andrea has experience working with children of various age ranges, and gained experience young by becoming a youth group leader and volunteering in classrooms and nurseries. Prior to obtaining her SLPA license, she was a registered behavior technician and worked with clients who were diagnosed with ASD. For the past two years, she has worked as an academic manager at different school sites. Andrea has a passion for this field and feels that it is so rewarding to know that she can contribute in making a positive impact in an individual’s speech/language goals.
Vivienne is a speech-language pathologist who joined Proficio in June 2021. She earned her B.A. in Linguistics at the University of California, Berkeley and received her M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology from San Jose State University. Her clinical interests include early intervention, literacy-based therapy, phonological disorders, and childhood apraxia of speech. She enjoys combining her love of linguistics with her passion for working with children and families.
Dillon O' Connell
Dillon is a speech-language pathologist who joined Proficio in July 2021. He earned his B.A. in Linguistics at the University of California, Davis and received his M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology from San Jose State University. His clinical interests include early intervention, articulation disorders, phonological disorders, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Before becoming a speech therapist, he worked in the school districts as a para-educator and as an ABA interventionist. He enjoys seeing his clients grow in to successful communicators. In his free time he enjoys getting together to play board games or heading outside to go on a hike or play spikeball.
Catie is a speech language pathologist who recently joined the Proficio Team. She earned her B.A. in Psychology at San Jose State University and spent the following 3 years working in the field of ABA. She became passionate about working with children with different needs and was drawn to helping them communicate. She then received her B.S. in Communication Disorders from Utah State University and her M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology from San Jose State University. Catie has aparticular clinical interest in ASD and early intervention. Her goal is always to construct fun, engaging, play-based sessions for her clients.
Sapphire is a speech-language pathologist who joined the Proficio team in July 2021. She received her bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley and her master's degree from NYU. Sapphire's interest in the field was sparked by experiences in her own family, and she is passionate about working with bilingual or multilingual families like her own. Her clinical interests include working with speech-sound disorders, ASD, early intervention, deaf and hard of hearing individuals, and pediatric voice. Sapphire loves to make therapy engaging, fun, and creative for children of all ages.

Sai joined Proficio at the beginning of September 2020. Being a relationship-focused, growth minded, and people-centric leader, Sai brings high levels of motivation and empowerment to teams in creative ways. She strongly advocates for the idea of dynamic and supportive team environments built on the foundation of empathy, authenticity, and trust. Sai believes that smiles are contagious, and strives to maintain a positive attitude everywhere she goes. She is a huge sports fan and enjoys watching baseball, hockey, and football. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors and loves activities such as traveling, camping, photography, hiking, being at the beach, and in the winter, snowboarding.
